Today, Sun announced a change in ownership.
Sun Digital will be merging with Sun Technology to create Sun Digital Technology, a global technology, media and media services company.

Sun’s board of directors, which is comprised of Sun CEO and Chairman Steve Ballmer and Sun founder John Malone, approved the transaction.
Sun announced in January 2018 that Ballmer would retire as CEO of the company.
Ballmer will remain Sun’s chairman.
Baller will also remain as president of Sun’s technology and media businesses.
Ballers tenure with Sun ended in July 2020.
Ballner will be succeeded by his wife, Nancy.
Ballinger will serve as Sun’s executive chairman, with responsibilities including overseeing Sun’s strategic initiatives.
Ball’s transition to a leadership role at Sun was announced on November 8, 2018.
In January 2019, Ballmer announced that he was stepping down as Sun CEO, but he will remain as a director of Sun.
Ball is the current chairman and CEO of Liberty Media, the parent company of Sun, which has more than 100 million customers around the world.
Liberty Media is an owner of the Sun Media and Sun Digital Networks businesses.
For more than a decade, Baller has been a trusted adviser to Sun, and he will continue this role as Sun looks to expand its global footprint.
Ball and his wife have been very active in Sun’s community.
Ball has been an outspoken supporter of social responsibility in business, including the Solar Energy Industries Association.
Sun also announced Ballmer’s retirement from the board of its Sun Communications group.
Ball will remain president and CEO and will serve on Sun’s boards of directors.
In addition to his role as president and chief executive officer of Sun Digital Communications, Ball will serve in other leadership roles in the Sun Group.
Ball was a founding member of Sun Technologies, Inc., a publicly traded company that is based in Boulder, Colorado.
In 2013, Ball joined Sun’s Board of Directors and was a member of the board when it was founded.
Ball joined the board as a founding director in 1998 and served for eight years.
Ball served on the boards of Sun and Sun Energy, Inc. He also served as president for Liberty Media and served as a member for Liberty from 1999 to 2007.
Ball also served on Liberty’s board from 2007 to 2015.
Ball previously served as vice president for global operations for Sun.
Since joining Liberty in 2006, Ball has served as the chief operating officer of Liberty and the CEO of Sun Technology.
Ball currently serves as vice chairman and chief financial officer of the parent Liberty Media Group.
He has served on numerous boards of major companies, including Sun, Liberty, Liberty Communications, Sun Ventures, Sun Communications Enterprise, Sun Group and Liberty Communications.
Ball received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and is a graduate of the University Of Colorado, Denver.
Sun Media has been growing steadily for the past decade.
Sun reached a total of more than 8 million monthly active users and grew its total user base by over 30 million in the first half of 2018.
